Our Corporate Finance team, led by Jack Griggs, recently advised Wyvols Court Farm Holdings Ltd (“Wyvols”) on its acquisition of Chase Cricket Limited (“Chase Cricket”), one of England’s most respected specialist cricket bat makers.
Wyvols, led by master willow grower Rory Waterer, has a century-long heritage of producing elite English willow. The acquisition brings the full journey of bat making, “from sapling to century”, under one owner, combining world-class willow with Chase Cricket’s renowned craftsmanship.
Founded in 1996, Chase Cricket is recognised for producing hand-crafted English willow bats built on balance, performance and meticulous attention to detail. Dan and Julie Swaine will continue to lead the business, preserving the skills and ethos that have shaped the brand for nearly 30 years.
Rory Waterer, Owner of Wyvols Court Farm, commented: “Chase Cricket is a brand I have admired for many years, and the opportunity to bring together our century of willow growing with three decades of specialist bat making felt truly unique. Dan and Julie have built an exceptional business grounded in craftsmanship, patience and performance, and I am proud to help steward its next chapter.”
Rory added: “When considering advisers, I knew I wanted to work with Jack and the James Cowper Kreston team again. Their attention to detail, experience and support are always second to none, and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else by my side on this journey.”
Jack Griggs, Director at James Cowper Kreston Corporate Finance, commented: “It was a pleasure to work with Rory again, after previously supporting him on the sale of Urban Planters. This transaction brings together two well-established names in the cricket bat sector, combining exceptional raw material with specialist craftsmanship to create a uniquely aligned platform. We look forward to seeing the combined platform go from strength to strength under its new ownership.”
James Cowper Kreston Corporate Finance advised Wyvols, working alongside Field Seymour Parkes.
